Comparison questions

Is Cove a free alternative to Momentum?

Cove is free and open source, but it is not a drop-in replacement for Momentum. Cove focuses on a local-first new tab, a clean RSS reader, tab triage, and procedural focus audio. Momentum focuses on wallpaper dashboards, widgets, and paid integrations. Choose based on the features you actually use.

How is Cove different from a default browser new tab?

Cove is a manual-install Manifest V3 extension that replaces the new tab with a local workspace. Default new tabs vary by browser and may include news, search suggestions, or sponsored content. Check your browser's settings and privacy policy for details.

Can Cove replace Feedly or Inoreader?

For reading a curated set of RSS feeds, Cove offers 11 curated sources, custom feed URLs, on-device ranking, and a cache of up to 120 extracted articles. It is not a team or enterprise RSS service and does not provide cloud sync across devices. Feedly or Inoreader may fit those needs better.

When should I choose Bonjourr, Tabliss, or another minimalist start page?

If you want a simple clock-and-links page without an RSS reader, tab triage, local ranking, or focus audio, a minimalist start page may be simpler. Cove is for people who want those extra tools in one local-first package.

Does Cove collect my data?

Cove has no account system, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no Cove telemetry endpoint. Settings, notes, reading state, and ranking data stay in browser storage. Network features contact publishers and APIs directly, which necessarily shares normal request data such as your IP address and user agent. See /privacy for the network ledger.
